Public institution “ Science and Technology Park of Institute of Physics ” with partners – members of LITEK – completed the project “ Creation of infrastructure of LITEK Training and research center ”

On October 25th, 2011 Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania and Public Institution Lithuanian Business Support Agency signed a contract with Public Institution “ Science and Technology Park of Institute of Physics ” to support project “ Creation of infrastructure of LITEK Training and research center ” under Priority 1 „Research and technological development for economic competitiveness and growth.Inoklaster LT +“. The European Union (EU) Structural Funds support for the implementation of the project from the EU European Regional Development Fund reached more than 1.27 million. The project partners invested around EUR 1.99 million. Euro of private funds.

The project was implemented by Laser and Engineering Technologies Cluster (LITEK), which brings together twelve companies and organizations working in the field of laser and related engineering technologies and carrying out joint projects. The members of LITEK cluster are JSC Arginta, JSC Arginta Engineering, JSC Eksma, JSC  Elas, JSC Ekspla, State Research Institute  Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC), PI Intechcentras, JSC Optida, JSC Optolita, JSC Optonas, JSC Progressive Business Solutions and project coordinator Public institution “ Science and Technology Park of Institute of Physics ”. The total annual turnover of LITEK companies exceeds 50 million. Eur, with over 490 employees. 2014 New members – JSC AmpLight KG (Austria) and JSC TOPAG Lasertechnik GmbH (Germany) joined the cluster, and a cooperation agreement was signed with the Southern European Cluster of Photonics and Optics, Spain.

The aim of the project was to create a research and training infrastructure for LITEK, which would enable cluster members and other companies in the sector to cooperate more closely in carrying out R&D activities and developing new products. During the implementation of the project, the LITEK Training and research center building with 15 research laboratories and a training center was built and equipped with scientific technology and software. The establishment of the LITEK Training and research center will encourage further cooperation between science and business, improve the sector’s knowledge and technology dissemination environment and contribute to the development of the Lithuanian laser and engineering technology sector at international level.
